Visual Culture
within the Syrian Revolution

Presentations and discussion with
Sandra Hetzl, Gabriela M. Keller (Berlin) and guests
from Syria

In this discussion, artist and activist Sandra Hetzl and journalist Gabriela M. Keller reflect on the roles of image and text both with regards to news reporting as well as to the resistance that developed in parallel to the Syrian Revolution. This is not only about citizen journalism or the images that have become oft-quoted icons echoing through cyberspace, but also about the collective activities of the town Kafranbel. While Syrian protagonists will talk about their activities via Skype, they remain anonymous for safety reasons.
